Whitby, Ontario - The EpiPen® TAKE ACTION Event
Take Action - Support A Walker Today! and help one small step lead to big changes.
More Than one million Canadians are at risk of anaphylaxis..
|
Support The EpiPen® TAKE ACTION Event Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can be life threatening. A New Canadian Survey reveals that people living with anaphylaxis are stressed and often limit common activities that you and I take for granted, and do every day, because they are perceived as too risky. Children that are severely allergic are being kept away from school, prevented from eating out at restaurants, enjoying traveling, and the fun of summer camps. Activities such as sleepovers, and birthday parties can cause so much concern that parents of children with severe allergies are keeping their children away. This weekend there is a walk in support of the Allergy/Asthma Information Association (AAIA) to raise funds for research and education while increasing awareness. There is still time to add your support, just click here! The walk is Saturday May 14th Take Action - Support A Walker Here! and help ..... MAKE IT A GREAT DAY |
Saturday May 14 Heydenshore Pavilion, adjacent to the Whitby Waterfront Trail Check-in begins at 9am. Event begins at 10am. Health Canada has developed a webpage with information about food allergies and links to the new Government of Canada brochures with information on each of the nine priority food allergens in Canada. Kathy...this is a great way to stress the impact of allergies in one's life. Hopefully, not only will the general public but your Educators will join in. Often those students with allergies are not recognized as having life-editing problems other than those with a 'peanut' or 'Bee sting' adverse reactions. [these can be immediately dangerous]

Krystyne - just read Shawns post on his "no nuts fo me blog"..... it sounds like all went well
Barb - it's hard to believe in this day and age what anyone who has allergies has to go through to protect themselves and their children from other's who simply just do not get it ..... that their childs peanut butter sandwich in their lunch could cost another child his or her life.
